Social Impact
#SheTechs is an IT awareness program which aims to close the gender gap in Information Technology (IT) in Malawi by elevating the involvement of girls in information technology (IT) initiatives, programs and careers. At GIBAC, we seek to help young girls in secondary schools embrace technology as part of their personal and professional growth. As the world is currently experiencing rapid technology advancement, we do not want our girls to be left behind.
Currently, there is a significant digital gender gap, with girls facing challenges in accessing and using technology. In 2019, we embarked on hosting IT Awareness Campaigns targeting girls in secondary schools. We successfully hosted 3 campaigns, reaching out to 500+ girls in three secondary schools; Zingwangwa Secondary School, Bangwe Secondary School and Maranatha Girls Academy.
#SheTechs aims to reach out to at least 10,000+ girls and establish IT girl clubs in secondary school as a sustainable solution to addressing the digital gender gap.
We recognize the value of networking and supporting others. Under our #GoWeb Initiative, we support start up social organisations by designing and developing free websites with the aim of boosting their outreach activities and exposure. To date, we have designed and developed sites for 3+ startup social organisations. Do you have a social organisation that is making impact in your community that needs a website?
